thursday

I read a handful of blogs.
I seldom comment (though I do more often than I used to!) even though
I really want to some of the time.
A couple of days ago I read a blog post
written by an older  woman.
Her heart was broken and hurting because her daughter left town without stopping to tell her good-bye like she said she would do. The daughter will be gone for a couple of years. The mom waited on her daughter all day and was crushed when she discovered her daughter left without saying good-bye.. She wrote about how she had cried all day.
My heart ached for her.
I could not believe a daughter could be so thoughtless when it came to her mother. I told boyfriend all about her blog post. He was pissed! lol.
Yesterday I read her blog and she seems to be feeling a lot better....has accepted/come to terms with what happened......she even got herself a hair cut that looks so good.
I'm so happy that she had a good day! (I know I'm  a dork!)

East Area Rapist/ Golden State Killer has been caught! He's responsible for 51 rapes and 12 murders from the 1970's and 1980's. He's a monster and I'm thrilled that he is in jail!

tuesday

I stayed the night with daughter this past Saturday.
We painted wine bottles while we listened to and sang along with  all of our favorite country music. We cooked steaks and shrimp for dinner, and we chit chatted. It was a very pleasant night!

friday

Boyfriend will have minor oral surgery today to remove 2 small growths in his mouth. Neither area is cancer. We should be in and out in under an hour. Then we are headed to the store to buy some chicken wire to put up around our little gardens to hopefully keep the raccoons and deer out of our stuff!
The little bastards ate all of my Tulips, again! lol

While going to the cancer center for chemo, and then again for other medications we noted that people would leave baskets of vegetables from their gardens in the waiting room. It was free to patients and their families. Having cancer treatments is very expensive. An example is the cost of just the radiation. Boyfriend had 30 treatments. Each treatment is 600 bucks. Luckily the insurance paid all but 45 bucks a treatment. But paying 45 dollars a day for 30 days adds up especially when you have hospital bills from testing, surgeries, chemotherapy, and then other medications.......not to mention costs of all the other (pulmonologist, oncologist, surgeon, family practice, and radiologist),  doctor visits.
So  to go into a waiting lounge and see that someone from the community is so caring/thoughtful to bring veggies from their gardens to share with people who might be struggling financially, and might be choosing between medications and food, but who need to be eating a healthy diet, is the sweetest gesture in the world to me. (Not to mention the new little blankets they leave so patients can have their own little chemo blanket, and all of the books donated so patients and families can pass the time during treatments and after treatments while at home, reading if they choose to.)
Boyfriend and I hope that our little garden is fruitful enough this year that we will be able to take a basket of veggies or more to the cancer center. Right?
We will also be delivering books. I was always so grateful for all of the books.

tuesday

Yesterday was a great day.
Boyfriend took me to the casino this morning to celebrate my birthday.
We played the slots for hours, and had lunch while  there.
I left with 65 bucks more in my pocket than when I arrived. :O) It was fun!

Before we left the house yesterday I had chicken in the crock pot so I could make Fajitas for supper for whoever might stop by. My adult children did stop by as did my dad and my sister. Two of my other sisters sent me a text, and my oldest sister forgot me! lol My ex-husband called to say happy birthday. (recently he told me he was going to retire in a few years and did I want to move with him to the west coast, have coffee together in the morning and take rides on his motorcycle. Another story for another time!)
If you know me just a little bit, then you know I'm always happy to see my children! Yesterday was no exception!
It was also nice spending time with dad and my sister!
My day was filled with activity and visitors. I couldn't have asked for a better birthday!

monday

Yesterday turned out to be an OK day.
I think I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed.
I didn't want my mood to ruin any one elses day so I got up and got going. Mostly I worked
on changing the beds, doing laundry, vacuuming, scrubbing the bathroom and kitchen.
Having a clean house almost always makes me feel better!

I watched a documentary yesterday. "Stories We Tell" is the name of it. I watched it on Netflix, or maybe I watched it on Hulu.
You can google it if you want. I'm not sure the reviews are very good, but I have to say I really enjoyed it. It made me feel a little depressed, but still it was very good.
And then last week I watched a movie named Lucky. I loved it. Google it if you'd like more info. I watched it on Hulu.

Daughter text me last night. She wanted to know if I wanna spend the night with her Saturday, cook dinner together, work on some crafts, chit chat, and watch movies.
I think it sounds like fun, so of course I said yes!

sunday

All I wanted to do this morning was to sit in my semi dark bedroom with my cup of caffeine, my kitty, and my computer. I wanted to read my blogs, and listen to nothing but silence, or maybe the rain outside my window!
So as I'm reading boyfriend comes in looking for some antennas he bought. Whenever he can't find what he is looking for he implies that I must have tucked it away somewhere.......................it irritates me even though I usually have put it away because he leaves it sitting out for weeks.
So now the bedroom light is on and boyfriend is making noise looking and talking.
I get up to help him look hoping to restore my room back to darkness and quiet as quickly as possible. I didn't want the world to be awake yet. You know?
So we find the antennas.
Boyfriend begins to put one on the bedroom TV but nerves in his hands are so severely damaged from the chemotherapy  he is having trouble with the job at hand.
I offer to help................... while I'm attempting to put the antenna on, boyfriend starts to micro manage me.
 I hate that..........
We never do get the antenna on because it's missing a part.

thursday

Woody likes to climb inside the car. He's a curious little guy.
Yesterday boyfriend had a CT scan of his chest.
It's always an anxiety filled couple of days waiting for the results.

It's been a beautiful, warm, and sunny day here.
I spent a lot of the day working in the yard trimming back numerous tall grasses, and pulling weeds from 2 small garden beds.
I already prepped my pots for my veggie garden. I talked boyfriend into having a little garden of his own.
It will do him good to nurture and grow something!
I think he's excited to have his own little garden in a pot. :O)

PS.........oncologist sent an email re CT scan............. "no changes/recurrent cancer. Good News!"

   It's great news!

monday

I did a lot of house cleaning this past weekend. The part I dislike the most about cleaning is the dusting. I hate to dust and usually put it off for as long as possible.
I also got all of my laundry finished!
Feels good to have it done!

I finally sat down and did my taxes.
They're on the buffet waiting for me to sign them, put them
in an envelope, and mail them.
I walk by them multiple times a day but but keep putting off those last few details.
I should have e-filed.
I didn't though because it cost more money.

I watched the Major golf championship this weekend. I was rooting for Jordan Spieth. I just like the guy but can't even tell you why.
He didn't win though. Some guy named Reed won. It was super close!

wishing i was back here!

Wednesday

Son installed the cat door for me. It leads to the basement where I have their (the cats) litter boxes. Now I can lock the basement door and the cats can still get to their bathroom! ! Yay!
I had to pile some of my stuff on top of some of my other stuff in order to fit Woodys' bed in my closet. It's where he wants to sleep most of the time.

I felt bad because I haven't posted a picture of Mr. Bojangles for a little while. He has allergies. It's why his right eye drains. It doesn't seem to bother him though!
He's my little buddy. I love him.

TUESDAY!

My Tulips are blossoming! I think they are lovely!

My Lilies are sprouting! I like Lilies because they are very sturdy AND pretty!

If he is awake, he's my partner in crime!

monday

We had a nice time yesterday!
My adult children came over for dinner.
Everybodys  mood was cheerful/pleasant.
The food was good. The conversation was
upbeat and the bantering always makes me smile!

I still make Easter baskets for each of my grown children.
I put stuff like breath mints, pistachios, jerky, gum, and
jelly beans in the baskets. I guess maybe I get more out of making the
baskets than they get receiving them.......I don't know.

After company left, Mr. Bojangles enjoyed some ham.   :O)

Dad left a few books on my porch the other day. Three of them are true crime.
I can only take the true crime books in small doses......I'll read them over the next several months.

Last night my sister emailed me a couple of pictures from when I was involved in community theater. My old high school drama teacher, who also directed me in community theater after I graduated high school  , posted them on her face book page. It was sweet to see the pics and brought back some great memories.

I worked on a painting today. It's a painting of a mom and her young daughter on the beach looking out at the ocean.
Painting is very relaxing!
